Future Barcelona star Vitor Roque stretched off in tears after suffering an ankle injury

Vitor Roque was stretched off in tears during Athletico Paranaense and Internacional’s Brazilian Serie A clash. The future Barcelona striker left the pitch after just seven minutes when Internacional defender Nicolas Hernandez’s sliding challenge.

Roque’s injury will be a big concern for the Catalan giants, who paid €35 million plus add-ons for the Brazilian this summer.

The transfer has already been finalized, but it remains unclear whether he will join in January or next summer.

According to Javi Miguel, Vitor Roque was contacted by Barcelona after suffering what looked like a major injury during Athletico Paranaense’s home game against Internacional.

He also mentioned that the early sensations were of a severe ankle injury while Barcelona continue to wait for the tests. Furthermore, he also claimed that a period of three months would be needed to get the youngster back on the field.

Vitor Roque could be out for up to 3 months

Meanwhile, Roque’s representative has informed Barca that there is nothing major to worry about. However, no one knows the extent of the Brazilian’s injury.

Athletico coach Wesley Carvalho has provided reassurance, saying: “Our medical team will assess the duration of his absence, but it’s still too early to determine.”

Roque is set to undergo a thorough examination by Athletico Paranaense’s medical staff in a few hours. Furthermore, the examination will gain clarity on the striker’s expected time on the sidelines.
