Former Indian Cricketer Mohammad Kaif Criticizes Lack of Transparency in NCA over Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury

Former Indian cricket team batsman Mohammad Kaif has expressed concern over the lack of transparency regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s injury recovery and has criticized the National Cricket Academy (NCA) led by VVS Laxman. Bumrah, who has been out of action since September 2022 due to a back injury, missed the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup as a result. The current status of his injury and his availability for the World Test Championship final against Australia in June 2023 remain unclear.

Mohammad Kaif spoke to Sportskeeda and highlighted faults in the system where players have been picked in the squad but then pulled out before the match, citing that they were not fully fit. He mentioned that this has happened to Bumrah recently, as well as to Mohammad Shami. Kaif believes that NCA trainers, physios, VVS Laxman, and his team should take care of these situations because it is unfair to the fans of cricket who are expecting Bumrah to play the next day.

Kaif went on to say that the absence of Bumrah has been a sad affair for cricket fans and asked for a definitive update from the NCA and administrators when it comes to the fast bowler. He stressed that there should be transparency, and players should be tested properly before being declared fit. There shouldn’t be any grey area left, and a player is either fit or more 10-20 days will be needed.

Addressing the Transparency Issue

As a Bumrah fan, Kaif wants to know what injury he has, what his recovery time is, and other details. He concluded that the NCA should address the transparency issue and put forth the exact matter, emphasizing that this is a very serious matter, and the management should not take it lightly.

He has criticized the NCA, stating that there should be transparency, and players should be tested properly before being declared fit.
