FIFA 2022: Lionel Messi got emotional on hearing Journalists comments after semifinal win

The South American giants produced an absolute masterclass in the semi-finals of the World Cup against Croatia as they defeated them by a scoreline of 3-0 in order to secure their place in their 6th World Cup final. This victory was once again courtesy of the stunning display from the Argentine captain Lionel Messi as he scored the first goal of the match and gave the lead to his nation.

Later on, Julian Alvarez scored a really beautiful goal which really secured the Argentines. But then in the second half, at the 69th minute, Lionel Messi simply rolled back the years as from the halfway line he dribbled with the ball to the penalty area and then gave a sensational assist to Alvarez to seal the game.

Following Argentina’s win in the semis, Messi spoke in detail about the game likes telling that the nation is ready for the final and the team will give it their all. However, there was one Argentine journalist who spoke to Messi and after hearing her words, the man of the match himself got emotional.

She said: “The last thing I want to tell you, and it’s not a question, but I just wanted to say the World Cup final is coming and sure, we all [Argentinians] want to win the cup. I just want to tell you that no matter the results, there’s something that no one can take from you, and it’s the fact you resonated with Argentinians, every single one. I’m being serious.

“There’s no kid who doesn’t have your team flannel, no matter if it’s a fake, real, or made-up one. Truly, you made your mark in everyone’s life. And that, to me, is beyond winning any World Cup. No one can take that from you and this is my gratitude, for the amount of happiness you bring to a lot of people. I seriously hope you take those words to your heart because I really believe that’s more important than winning a World Cup and you already have it. So thank you, captain.”

And now qualifying for the finals once again after 2014, the Copa America champions will face the winner of France and Morocco at the Lusail stadium on Sunday. It’s Lionel Messi’s last chance at the trophy that he desires the most and all of Argentina would give their all to fulfil their dream.
