England release Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham from international duty

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been released from the England squad after an assessment of his shoulder injury. The England international will now miss the qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

Moreover, along with Bellingham, Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has also been sent home, as he is struggling with a shoulder problem as well.

Bellingham was not involved in Real Madrid’s 5-1 win over Valencia this weekend as he dislocated his shoulder a week prior in a 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

A statement from England on Tuesday read: “Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill will play no part in England’s forthcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

“The pair arrived at St. George’s Park for assessments on Monday but will now return to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively to continue their rehabilitation.

“Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Kalvin Phillips will meet up later this week owing to personal matters.”

Jude Bellingham withdraw from the England squad after a shoulder injury

England have already qualified for the Euro 2024 after taking 16 points from their opening six qualifying matches. Furthermore both Malta and North Macedonia have already been eliminated from contention to reach next summer’s finals in Germany.

According to reports, Real Madrid were furious as they hoped England would not call him for the international games. However, the English FA wanted to assess him as they thought he could play the second match.

Nevertheless, he will return to Spain, and Los Blancos will hope that he recovers from his injury during the international break.

Bellingham has been the most important player for Real Madrid this season, scoring 13 goals in his first 14 appearances. Madrid sit second in the La Liga table behind Girona and will play Cadiz after the international break on 26th November.
