England Captain Harry Kane eyes Euro 2028 triumph on home soil

England Captain Harry Kane eyes Euro 2028 triumph on home soil after failing to win the last European Championship against Italy at Wembley.

The UK and Ireland’s bid to host the Euros in 2028 was formally approved on Tuesday. So this means that England will get another shot at winning the tournament in front of their crowd.

The Three Lions suffered a heavy defeat at the Wembley Stadium in Euro 2020 after Italy managed to beat them on penalties to lift the trophy.

That painful defeat against the Azzurri still hurts the England players said Kane. The new Bayern striker will be 34 by then and in the twilight of his career.

However, he is still planning to play as he wants to make amends for that despair against Italy two years ago.

The 30-year-old striker left his boyhood club this summer to join Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich. It’s safe to say that his move to the Bavarians has been brilliant, as he has already scored 8 goals for them.

Harry Kane eyes Euro 2028 triumph as he still has some ‘unfinished business’

Kane has now joined the England squad ahead of their friendly against Australia and Euro qualifiers against Italy.

When asked whether England had some unfinished business in a home tournament, he said: “I think so, we were so close to doing something really magical in the last Euros.

“That’s football, it didn’t end the way we wanted it to but for sure there will be a bit between our teeth.

Kane was also confident when he was asked if he could continue at the highest level when he gets older. He cited Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as examples of players who were still performing at the highest level in their thirties.

“When you look at a lot of the top-level players like Ronaldo, Messi, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic, they have almost got better as they hit 30,” Kane added.
