Emma Raducanu and Cameron Norrie team up for Eisenhower Cup mixed doubles

Emma Raducanu, the young tennis sensation, is on a mission to regain her lost ranking points after an injury-plagued 2022 and recent poor results. The 19-year-old has now added the ATX Open in Texas, along with the Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells, to her busy schedule.

Raducanu will partner with fellow Briton Cameron Norrie in the mixed doubles Tie Break Tens format for the one-night Eisenhower Cup tournament on March 7th. The winner of the tournament will be the first team to reach 10 points, with the matches decided by a single tie-break, and the first team to reach 10 points and lead by a margin of two goes through. This year’s Eisenhower Cup edition will feature mixed doubles teams for the first time.

Tommy Haas, the tournament director in Indian Wells, expressed his excitement for the event, “We are thrilled that The Eisenhower Cup will return for a fourth time to serve as a meaningful charitable event to ring in two weeks of exciting action in Tennis Paradise. Tennis fans will be treated to the brightest stars of both tours pairing up for a fun and unique mixed doubles event, and we extend our sincerest thank you to all players for their participation in supporting this great cause.”

Norrie and Raducanu’s Partnership

Cameron Norrie is currently ranked 12th in the world and enjoyed an impressive run at Wimbledon in 2022. The 27-year-old reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, and then went on to continuously better his record. He reached the semi-final, where he was drawn against eventual champion Novak Djokovic. Raducanu, on the other hand, had her Australian Open campaign derailed by an ankle injury she picked up in Auckland ahead of the tournament. Despite winning her first-round match, world No.6 Coco Gauff was too strong in the second round, resulting in Raducanu losing in straight sets. It will be interesting to see how these two British players team up and perform in the Eisenhower Cup.

Excitement Builds for the Eisenhower Cup

The organizers of the Eisenhower Cup have announced that one additional team will be added later. As in previous years, all the proceeds from the Eisenhower Cup will be redistributed to local charities. The event provides an opportunity for tennis fans to see star ATP and WTA players teaming up in a quick and short format. Mixed doubles matches add an exciting dimension to the event, and Raducanu’s partnership with Norrie promises to be an interesting one to watch.
