Pakistan thump India by 128 runs in Emerging Asia Cup 2023 final

In the 2023 ACC Men’s Emerging Cup final on Sunday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Pakistan thrashed India by 128 runs after dominating from the get-go.

Pakistan’s bowlers bowled shrewdly and with balance after setting India a lofty 353-run target to reach. Sufiyan Muqeem secured three wickets, while a number of other players each took home two.

Tayyab Tahir stole the spotlight earlier as Pakistan scored 352-8.

Pakistan was given the opportunity to bat first and the opening pair of Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan put on a strong 121-run partnership for the first wicket before the former left for 59.

Before Farhan disappeared for 65, batsman Omair Yousuf, who was one down, delivered a run-a-ball 35. Tahir then entered the room and started to exhaust the Indian bowlers.

At the end of their allotted 50 overs, Pakistan had amassed an enormous total of 352-8 thanks in large part to his quickfire 109, which included 12 fours and four maximums.

Only Nishant Sindhu (9-48-1) of the Indian bowlers averaged less than six runs per over on the day, with the majority of them being pricey.

On a memorable day for the Indian ball hurlers overall, Harshit Rana (6-51-1) and Manav Suthar (9-68-1) took the worst beatings.

India A Captain Yash Dhull praised the opposition despite abashing loss

India A captain, Yash Dhull: “They batted very well, we controlled it well in the middle, but they batted well. It was a big target but we played some poor shots. The decision was okay, but they batted well and the wicket was also fresh. We played some bad shots [at three wickets down] and went down from there. None of us have played international cricket so it was a good platform for us to play and a good environment.”
