Eden Hazard considering international retirement

It finally looks like the ‘Golden Generation’ of Belgium is coming to an end as in this year’s World Cup, they were absolutely dreadful. The Belgian side couldn’t even manage to go through the Round of 16 as they finished 3rd in the group behind the likes of Morocco and Croatia.

And after the last match against Croatia, their coach Roberto Martinez announced that he has resigned from being the coach of Belgium which was truly shocking. But that announcement clearly stated this is the beginning of the end for the Red Devils who were on top for so many years.

Eden Hazard likely to retire from International football

Soon after the coach resigned there were widespread reports that the old guard with the likes of Lukaku, De Bruyne, Vertonghen and many more would also step aside from he national team. But now the latest player who is considering to internationally retire is their captain himself, Eden Hazard.

The former Chelsea winger has been a success for his national team across his 14 years in the first team and went on to make 126 appearances since his 2008 debut. It is also being reported that Hazard is thinking to switch clubs, given the lack of game time that he is experiencing at Real Madrid.

Even if Eden decides to retire from international football, it cannot be taken away from him that he was one of the best Belgium players at the 2018 World Cup when they should have won the tournament, but they came 3rd.

Without him, the Red Devils surely couldn’t be the World’s Number 1 ranked team for such a long period of time. All in all, every beautiful journey has to come to an end and this time out, it’s the turn for Belgium.
