The ‘Dhoni Review System was once again on display when Chennai Super Kings took on Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL 2023 game at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.
The dismissal took place in the 18th over of the game when Tushar Deshpande caught Wiese right in front of the stumps. While umpire Nitin Menon gave it not out in real time, CSK skipper MS Dhoni made the gesture for DRS immediately after the ball was collected by one of CSK’s fielders. Wiese had played the wrong line and the ball hit his thigh pad, leading the umpire to believe that the ball would have probably gone above the stumps.
Following the dismissal, Dhoni could be seen applauding Deshpande for the delivery while Nitish Rana, the KKR captain, was stunned with the replay, and made an admiring gesture on the decision being overturned.

The CSK skipper walked in to the bat in the last over and was greeted with a waist-high no ball. The umpire did not signal a no-ball instantly and Dhoni opted for a review. TV replays then showed that the ball was waist-high and the Dhoni Review System, once again proved to be successful! Following this successive review, fans were elated and took to Twitter to react.

Talking further about the match, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 49 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday to record their biggest win (by runs) of IPL 2023. With the victory, CSK jumped to the top of the points table with 10 points in seven matches. KKR have now suffered four consecutive defeats in the tournament.
Meanwhile, CSK skipper hinted that it might be his last appearance in the IPL. “I would just say thank for the support. You know, they came in big numbers. Usually, they would come dressed in KKR jersey colour. Maybe to give me a farewell they have come in numbers wearing yellow jerseys. It’s good to see such support. They will come wearing their team jerseys in the upcoming games. However, thanks crowd for the support,” Dhoni said after the match.
