Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 50th goal of 2023 in Al Nassr’s 5-2 win over Al-Shabab in the Saudi King Cup of Champions, in football match news.

The Portuguese striker scored the team’s fourth goal as Al Nassr thrashed Al Shabab 5-2 in the Quarter finals of the King Cup.

Ronaldo played a slick one-two with fellow Portugal international Otavio before burying a low shot from 10 yards in the 74th minute.

This was also Ronaldo’s 20th goal of this season. The 38-year-old is now running for the Maradona Award at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards. The award is given to the player who scores the most goals in a calendar year.

Ronaldo will compete with the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe for the award.

The former Real Madrid top scorer has scored 40 goals for Al-Nassr since joining them after the 2022 World Cup. Moreover, he has also extended his international goal record, netting 10 goals in nine appearances.

Ronaldo is now on 50 goals, but his competitors, Erling Haaland (50 goals), Harry Kane (49 goals) and Kylian Mbappe (49 goals) are not far away either. It will be exciting to see who ends up as the top scorer in 2023.

Furthermore, the striker has scored 50 or more goals in eight calendar years, a feat only achieved by his eternal rival Lionel Messi, who has done so nine times in his career.

With this win, Al Nassr has now qualified for the semi-final of the King’s Cup for the second year running.
