Cristiano Ronaldo comments on a Instagram video that criticizes Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo surprisingly commented on a Instagram video from a Spanish journalist that criticizes Lionel Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or win.

The 36-year-old won his record-breaking eighth Ballon d’Or in Paris on Monday night, and also moved three clear of eternal rival Ronaldo in the process.

Diario AS journalist Tomas Roncero posted a video following Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or victory. In his post, Roncero criticized the 2022 World Cup winner and said that most of his recent achievements were given to him and not earned by his excellence.

Some fans have also mocked Messi and suggested that Manchester City forward Erling Haaland should have won it.

What did the Spanish journalist said in his video?

Tomas Roncero said in his video: “Hello friends. What we knew has happened. They were going to give another Ballon d’Or to Messi.

“He went to retire at Miami, but he was already looking retired at PSG to prepare for the World Cup. He won the World Cup, yes, well, but with 6 penalties in their favour.

“The World Cup was 10 months ago, we’re in November. Messi has eight Ballon d’Ors well, he should have five, he has the Ballon d’Ors of Iniesta and Xavi, Lewandowski, who won six trophies in one season and Haaland who was the top scorer of everything.”

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘mocks’ Lionel Messi

After Tomas Roncero posted the video, Cristiano Ronaldo liked the post and commented with four laughing face emojis. Nevertheless, his comment added more fuel to the fire.

Both Messi and Ronaldo enjoyed some of the best battles during their time with Barcelona and Real Madrid. Football fans around the world debate which player deserves the tag of Greatest Of All Time (GOAT).

Some fans now believe that Messi has ended the debate after guiding Argentina to their third World Cup in Qatar last year.
