Cristiano Ronaldo asks referee to be substituted in Al Nassr game

In latest football match news, Cristiano Ronaldo asked for the referee to be substituted after his teammate Talisca was controversially sent off against Al Ettifaq.

Al Nassr faced Steven Gerrard’s side in the King Cup of Champions round of 16 clash and won 1-0 in extra time courtesy of a goal from Sadio Mane.

Anderson Talisca had a goal disallowed at the end of first half for offside by VAR after Ronaldo interfered the play. Talisca was later sent off after his yellow card was upgraded to a red card by Chilean referee Piero Maza.

Both decisions were frustrating for Ronaldo as he made a substitution gesture pointing to the man in the middle. Nevertheless, the Portuguese striker avoided a second yellow card.

Furthermore, Al Ettifaq fans also made Ronaldo angry after chanting his arch rival Lionel Messi’s name, who won his eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday.

The 38-year-old responded by putting his finger to his lips and shushing the Al Ettifaq supporters. When Sadio Mane scored the winner, both he and Ronaldo went to the visiting fans’ side to mock them back.

Ronaldo failed to make in the final top 30 Ballon d’Or rankings this season, plus his eternal rival now has three more Ballon d’Or’s than him.

Nevertheless, Ronaldo did mock Lionel Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or win after commenting four laughing emojis on Spanish journalist Tomas Roncero post.

Tomas Roncero said that Messi didn’t deserve to win the Ballon d’Or this year, and that he should only have five of them. He also said that he ‘stole’ the Ballon d’Or from Xavi, Iniesta, Lewandowski and Haaland.
