Harmanpreet Kaur becomes most capped T20I player; Breaks Rohit Sharma’s record

India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur set a new world record by becoming the most capped player in world cricket in the T20I format.

In the ongoing women’s T20 World Cup, Harmanpreet played her 149th T20I against England at St. George’s Oval.

The 33-year-old, who will feature for the Mumbai Indians in the maiden iteration of the Women’s Premier League, has now played the second-most matches as captain.

Surpassing England’s Charlotte Edwards (93). New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (142) and Danielle Wyatt (140) are the only other players who have played upwards of 140 games in the shortest format.

Rohit has played a total of 148 T20Is for India. Harmanpreet broke another record when she walked out for the toss ahead of this very game.

New Zealand’s Suzie Bates has played 142 T20I matches, and Danielle Wyatt has played 140. However, neither of them has as much experience as Harmanpreet Kaur.

In addition to this, Harmanpreet has played the second-most matches as captain, with a total of 94 T20I games captaining the Indian women’s team. Only Australia’s Meg Lanning, with 97 games as captain, has more experience leading a team in T20I cricket than Harmanpreet.
