Match Preview

Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s rebuilding season is going on the right track as Chelsea defeated Sheffield United 2-0 on the weekend.

Chelsea have played all their games in the EFL Cup at the Stamford Bridge this season. They have seen off AFC Wimbledon, Brighton & Hove Albion and Blackburn to make it this far in the competition.

Moreover, they have won each of their last four EFL Cup quarter-final ties. The Blues have not lost a quarter-final 2013/14, when Sunderland handed them a defeat in extra time.

Newcastle United are coming in this game after a 3-0 win over Fulham. Despite their exit from the Champions League, the Magpies are aiming for positive results.

Eddie Howe’s men have already eliminated both Manchester United and Manchester City in the previous rounds of the EFL Cup.

Despite losing in the final last campaign, the Magpies will aim to win the EFL Cup this season.

A few weeks ago, Newcastle United thrashed Chelsea in the Premier League and got a 4-1 win over them at the St James’ Park.
