Chelsea 4-4 Manchester City: Chelsea and City share spoils after eight-goal thriller

Chelsea and Manchester City played out a dramatic eight-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge, which is now being regarded as one of the best games of this season.

Chelsea had a bright start at the beginning of the game, but slowly, Man City grew by controlling the possession.

City took the lead in the 25th minute after Marc Cucurella pulled Erling Haaland down in the Chelsea box. The referee awarded a penalty after a VAR check. Haaland scored the penalty to give City the lead.

However, Chelsea responded in style as Thiago Silva dashed across the City defence from a corner kick to score a header just four minutes later. The Blues took the lead after Sterling tapped it home from Reece James’ cross inside City’s box.

Nevertheless, City equalised through Manuel Akanji’s header in the first-half stoppage time.

The first half ended 2-2, but City did not wait long to retake the lead in the second half as Erling Haaland bundled the ball home after coming together in the box.

The Blues were not ready to give up and scored the equaliser just before the 70th minute mark after Nicolas Jackson pounced in a saved shot to make it 3-3.

Just when it looked that the game would end 3-3, Rodri provided one last moment of magic in the dying minutes as he fired a shot in off a Chelsea defender to snatch the lead late.

However, the drama continued after Ruben Dias fouled Armando Broja in the box in the stoppage time, and Chelsea earned a late penalty.

Cole Palmer stepped up to take the penalty against his former side, where he spent almost 15 years. Palmer slotted in the penalty and earned a important draw for the Blues against one of the best sides in England.
