According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the schedule for the 2023 World Cup would be revealed during the World Test Championship final at The Oval. However, the board has compiled a list of cities shortlisted for World Cup across India, and it will soon provide the ICC with a final shortlist.
Shah made these remarks in Ahmedabad, which will play host to the IPL final on Sunday, following the BCCI’s special general meeting. With only approximately four months until the start of the event, the BCCI has yet to complete the itinerary for the ten-team World Cup, which is scheduled to take place between October 5 and November 19.

The 46-day span will see the playing of 48 games in total, including the three knockout rounds. With the exception of Ahmedabad, the BCCI’s original shortlist of cities included Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai and Trivandrum.
It is said that Nagpur and Pune are also being considered. Ten cities are set to host the league games, while two more locations are likely to host the preliminary games that take place before the main event.
When will ODI World Cup 2023 start?
The 2023 ODI World Cup is likely to start on October 5 and end on November 19.
The ICC typically releases the World Cup schedules at least a year in advance, but this time it was also holding off until the BCCI received the required approvals from the Indian government. This involves two major concerns: obtaining a tax exemption for the competition and securing visa permission for the Pakistani team, which hasn’t competed in India since early 2013 outside of ICC matches.
