Check out: Rohit Sharma Explains Exclusion of Mohammed Shami from 3rd Test against Australia

India and Australia has locked horns in the Border-Gavaskar trophy , with India already in drivers’ seat, having a 2-0 lead in the series. With the third test already on the way in Indore, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has made some interesting exclusions in the playing eleven.

Fellow opener and Deputy to him KL Rahul has been excluded which was quite evident and expected due to his string of low scores. But, another surprise omission has baffled the supporters which showed star seamer Mohammad Shami being dropped from the squad.

He is replaced by another experienced pacer, Umesh Yadav, who has an excellent record while bowling in the subcontinent, claiming 98 wickets at an average of 25.16 in Indian soil.

Thinking of future lead to his omission

While asked about the reason of Shami’s exclusion, Rohit Sharma provided an interesting update . He said that Shami has been rested ahead of the fourth and final test in Ahmedabad. There has been some speculations about the pitch to be prepared , as it could be a green one, thus aiding the pacers and seamers.

“We aren’t there yet (WTC final) and we have to come and win this game, we have to try and repeat the things we did in the first two Tests. It is important to stay present. We have made two changes – Gill comes in place of KL. We have rested Shami,” the skipper was quoted saying this.

Jasprit Bumrah, missing out the test series and is supposedly unavailable for the World Test Championship final, India is thinking about the future, and resting their most experienced pacer might be a good option, to prepare him for the next test and also for WTC Final.

With a green surface on the offing, might be a good idea to rest Shami

The pitch in the next test in Ahmedabad might have a green surface , which is going to aid the pacers and seamers, it is a good idea for the Indian team management to take care of Shami’s workload, which might prove beneficial in the coming days.
