Australia Women captain Meg Lanning on Sunday set the record for winning most number of ICC trophies as captain. After defeating South Africa in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, Lanning has now won five ICC trophies as captain.
She overtook Ricky Ponting, who had won four ICC trophies as captain. Ponting is followed by MS Dhoni (three ICC trophies).On that note, check out the list of cricket captains with the most ICC trophies.

Notably, Australia also completed a hat-trick of winning T20 World Cup titles as they lifted the famous trophy in 2018 and 2020 as well.
With another trophy in the bag, Lanning is now the most successful captain in cricket history. With a win over South Africa, she also became the first captain to clinch three consecutive T20 World Cup titles as well.
Lanning Tops the List of Captains with Most ICC Trophies
Australian skipper Megastar Meg Lanning created history by winning her fifth ICC tournament as captain. She led Australia to victory in four T20 World Cups 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023 along with the 2023 ODI World Cup. Lanning was also the captain of Australia’s CWG 2022 winning team in Birmingham last year.
While another Australian captain, Ricky Ponting had held the record earlier. Ponting has won 4 ICC Titles in the year as followed: 2003, 2007 – ODI World Cup and 2006,2009 – Champions Trophy.
On the other hand, India’s all-time best skipper MS Dhoni has 3 World-class Trophies to his name: 2007 – T20 World Cup, 2011 – ODI World Cup, and 2013 – Champions Trophy.
