Carlos Alcaraz, the World No. 2 tennis player, is set to compete in the 2024 Australian Open without his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero. Unfortunately, Ferrero is currently recovering from an arthroscopy on his left knee, preventing him from accompanying Alcaraz to the Grand Slam event.

Coach Replacement for Australian Open

The absence of Ferrero at the Australian Open will be addressed by Samuel López, who will take on coaching responsibilities in Ferrero’s stead. This change in coaching personnel comes as a setback for Alcaraz, considering Ferrero’s significant role in his training and performance.

Juan Carlos Ferrero is expected to resume coaching Alcaraz at the tournament level during the Indian Wells Masters 1000 event. The event is scheduled to take place between March 6-17. Despite the knee surgery, Ferrero is actively involved in Alcaraz’s training sessions, showcasing his dedication to his player.

During the South American tour in February, Antonio Martinez Cascales, a coach who has worked with Ferrero before, will step in to coach Alcaraz. The tournaments in Buenos Aires (February 12 to 18) and Rio de Janeiro (February 19 to 25) will witness Alcaraz’s performance under the guidance of Cascales.

In 2023, Alcaraz established himself as one of the top tennis players globally, reaching World No. 2. Although he narrowly missed the World No. 1 spot, Alcaraz’s remarkable year included winning the Wimbledon title and reaching the semi-finals in both the French Open and the US Open.
