Carlos Alcaraz calls Rafael Nadal his childhood Idol, Compares Roger Federer to Lionel Messi

After being set back by injuries, Alcaraz is finally ready to make his comeback and continue his promising career. Comparing Federer to Messi

Before his debut, Alcaraz spoke to some of the most important media outlets in Argentina and discussed the triumph of La Albiceleste at the 2022 World Cup. During the interviews, Alcaraz made comparisons between Roger Federer and Lionel Messi, stating that Federer was the “Messi of tennis” because of the ease with which he plays.

Admiration for Federer and Nadal

Despite his admiration for Federer, Alcaraz confessed that his childhood idol was actually Rafael Nadal. In an interview with Marca, Alcaraz praised Nadal’s career, charisma, work, mentality, and impact on Spanish tennis.

“He was my childhood idol and he is the idol of all Spanish fans of tennis and sports in general because of his career, his charisma, his work, his mentality,” Alcaraz said.

Return to the Court

As the top seed in Argentina this week, Alcaraz received a bye straight into the second round, where he will face either Fabio Fognini or Laslo Djere. After the Argentina Open, Alcaraz will ramp up his schedule, with plans to defend his title in Rio next week, before heading to Acapulco and Indian Wells and Miami, where he will be defending his Miami Open title.
