RCB, in their recent WPL match on Monday (March 13), lost a last-over thriller against Delhi Capitals (DC) — their 5th loss in a row in WPL 2023.

Three games remained in the league round, and RCB has a chance to qualify for the playoffs. There are various permutations and combinations that must fall in their favour in order for them to advance in the tournament.

Based on the tournament format, the table topper at the end of the league stage will automatically qualify for the finals. Whereas, the teams finishing second and third will face each other in an Eliminator clash for a spot in the final.

For RCB to qualify for the playoffs, they must win all three of their remaining games and hope that Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals defeat Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz. If Gujarat Giants can also beat UP Warriorz, RCB will have a chance to make it to the playoffs.

However, the probability of all these outcomes going in RCB’s favour is very low based on their performance in the tournament.

Notably, RCB cannot enter the top two as MI and DC have already won four games. RCB can only finish either third or fourth in the points table.

RCB has a talented squad, including Smriti Mandhana, Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, and others, but they have failed to perform up to their potential in the competition. Despite their large fan base, RCB has yet to win a game in the WPL 2023.
