Cameron Green on his IPL contract: “I just placed my name into the auction, and it just happened”

IPL is known as the toughest T-20 league in the world. Playing here tends to grab everyone’s attention which thus helps the players in their international career. Cameron Green was one of the most talked about players heading into this year’s IPL auction.

It was predicted that he would earn big bucks and turning this prophecy true, Green broke all records and was bought for a whopping Rs 17.5 Cr by the Mumbai Indians on Friday. This made him the second most expensive player in the history of the IPL after Sam Curran.

Cameron Green makes generous comment on his IPL buy

It has been a remarkable week for the all-rounder. Soon after his staggering maiden IPL contract, Green went on to pick his maiden five-wicket haul in the opening day of the boxing day test against South Africa on Monday at Melbourne.

Green was quite down to earth about his IPL contract when he was interviewed after his career-best bowling figures of 5-27. The star all-rounder acknowledged the media that he didn’t feel like he had done much in T20 cricket to merit the high price tag in the IPL.

Green said that “Fair enough, I don’t believe I did much to sort of earn that. Just now, after I entered my name in the auction, it happened. It doesn’t alter my identity, perspective, or level of self-assurance on playing cricket. I hope I didn’t alter too much”

Green further admitted that he was shaken from inside when the final bid was made by the most decorated team in the IPL. However, he was quite determined as he had a boxing day test to be played from Monday onwards and was quite focussed about it. He also added that his teammates helped him to stay grounded.

This shows Green’s character not only in the field of cricket but also in the field of life. He has been quite consistent in his approach and is a bright star for the future.
