Brighton vs Liverpool: Match preview, team news, predicted line-up, result, head-to-head, venue, date, time, where to watch

Liverpool and Brighton lock horns this weekend in the Premier League as Seagulls would look to bounce back from their horrific 1-6 defeat in the hands of Aston Villa last weekend, and the Reds would look to amend their mistakes after dismal refereeing decisions led to their loss against Tottenham last week.

A clash of the ages

Brighton has been one of the top teams since last few seasons. Owing to the might of Kauru Mitoma, a Japanese star who has prepared his masters thesis based on dribbling skills and latest star Evan Ferguson among many others, the Seagulls have come a long way. Under the strict vigil of Robert De Zerbi coupled with latest recruits like Ansu Fati from FC Barcelona, these Brighton side has earned a valuable European spot last season, and had finished ahead the likes of Premier League heavyweights like Liverpool and Manchester United. They would be looking to return to winning ways after a horrendous thrashing from Aston Villa last weekend, where Ollie Watkins was enough to destroy the backbone of Brighton. In their midweek fixture against Marseille at the European top flight, they were inflicted with a 2-2 draw and would be gearing up for a classy match-up against the mighty Reds. The Seagulls currently stand on sixth position, with 15 points from 7 games.

Liverpool, on the other hand, would look to up their ante after their victory against Belgian side Union St. Gilloise, as they would be returning their focus on the domestic circuit. In their last game of the League against Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp’s men were subjected to “significant human error” by match officials, where a Luis Diaz goal was mistakenly ruled out due to offside, which eventually led to their defeat as a Joel Matip own goal in the dying minutes led Spurs towards their victory. PGMOL had apologized for the mistake of match officials, which had even prompted Jurgen Klopp to vouch for a replay of the game.

Brighton vs Liverpool: match news

With a high voltage clash on the cards for both sides, where both of them need nothing less than three points, both Klopp and De Zerbi would be prompted to field their best eleven. For the Seagulls, Ecuadorian left-back Estupinan would be unavailable owing to a thigh injury, as his tormented week continues, after scoring an own goal in their abysmal show against Villans. The Latin star joins several top players on the sidelines which include Moder, Enciso as former Liverpool mates Lallana and Milner would be missing their opportunities for a reunion against former team. Lamptey is assumed to start at left-back and Evan Ferguson would be summoned to spearhead the attack.

For the Reds, they would be without the services of promising star Curtis Jones, as he will begin his three-game domestic ban, as Diogo Jota would also be joining Jones in suspension after two yellow cards in the last game. Dutchman Cody Gakpo would be on the sidelines as he is nursing a knee injury after scoring the equalizer against Spurs, as the list further continued with Bajcetic, Kelleher and Alcantara, with the trio recuperating from their respective injuries.
