Brighton 2-1 Liverpool: Kaoru Mitoma scores in injury time to knock out Defending Champions of FA Cup

Liverpool football club who are the defending champions of the FA Cup have been officially knocked out of the competition today in the 4th round by thier rivals Brighton at the Amex stadium.

Since the commencement of the match, it was surely looking intense cause within the first quarter of the game, both sides created massive chances to score which resulted in goal line clearances on both ends. And this intensity clearly stated the will of both sides to win this encounter and progress to the next round.

But at the half-an-hour mark, Jurgen Klopp’s side managed to break through Brighton’s defence and they took the lead in the game, courtesy of a good finish from the youngster Harvel Elliot.

After this goal, it looked like the Merseyside could finally turn thier season around with a big win at the Amex, however, it did not take long for the home team to crush Liverpool’s hope cause Tariq Lamptey equalised for the Seagulls from a long-range striker which was luckily deflected in from Lewis Dunk.

Liverpool’s misery continues

Hence, in the second half, it was to all to play out for both these sides and because of this it was very likely that whichever team would take the lead again would win the game, as they would switch to a defensive formation and just defend for thier lives

However, when since the beginning of the second half, it was an absolute stalemate as nothing could separate these sides and it was looking likely that, this is going to be yet another replay for Klopp’s men at Anfield next week. But Brighton’s forward Mitoma had other ideas as in the dying moments of the game, he produced a sensational finish to win the game for his side and send them to the next round.

All in all, this has been truly historic for the Seagulls whereas for the Reds, their disappointing season continues as now they are out of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, 9th in the Premier League and now they’ll face the European champions Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
