BCCI releases names of best performers of 2022 across formats; SKY, Iyer, Bumrah among winners
Despite not being able to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup this year, there have been many match-winning individual performances by the Indian players in 2022. From Rishabh Pant with the bat to Jasprit Bumrah with the ball, the Indian players have given the fans many joyous moments to celebrate and take pride in.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has acknowledged some spectacular performances by announcing the best performers across formats. The board revealed the list of best performers in different formats on December 31 through its official social media handles.
BCCI announce names of best performer for the year 2022
In the longest format of the game, it is star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant who has bagged the title of best batsman. Along with him, speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been honoured with the best bowler award in the format.
Now coming to the ODIs, Shreyas Iyer was declared the best batsman of the year. Iyer has bee extremely consistent in the middle order for India. In just 17 innings, he has scored a total of 724 runs with a highest score of 113 against South Africa at Ranchi in October.
Among the bowlers, the ever-improving Mohammed Siraj was announced as the best bowler of the year. He has a total of 24 wickets in 15 matches in 2022 with best figures of 3/29 at home.
With the majority of the T20s played in the year 2022 due to the World Cup in Australia, there were a lot of performers who produced some match winnings moments for fans to cherish.
From Virat Kohli scoring his 71st hundred against Afghanistan and winning the World Cup match against Pakistan from nowhere, to Arshdeep Singh impressing everyone with his bowling, there have been many of such performances.
But the best batsman was awarded to Suryakumar Yadav without any hesitation. Surya had an incredible 2022 in the shortest format with a total of 1164 runs in just 31 matches. His highest score was 117 runs from just 55 balls against England and entertained everyone with his vast variety of stroke play.
He became the first player to score 1000 runs in T20s for India. He smashed a total of two hundreds and also achieved his career best ranking of being no.1 in the ICC rankings for batsmen.
Veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged the best bowler of 2022 in T20s. He picked a total of 37 wickets in 32 matches and bowled some amazing spells at the top.
