BCCI give “Verbal Warning” as Virat Kohli breaches contract

Virat Kohli posted the score of his yo-yo test on his Instagram handle which did not go down well among the BCCI officials as it was termed as a breach of contract that the players are governed by. According to the contract, the players are restricted from posting any confidential information on a public platform, and doing so will be considered a breach of contract.

The Indian team is currently in Bangalore where they are participating in a preparty camp for the Asia Cup. The camp began with some fitness drills yesterday which included a yo-yo test that the players had to undergo to assess their fitness before the multi-national tournament in Sri Lanka and Pakistan starting from August 30.

According to reports senior players like Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Panday passed the fitness test. Almost all the players were present in the camp except Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Verma, and Sanju Samson all of whom will join the team after returning from Ireland on Friday.

Yo-Yo Test

Coming back to Virat’s Instagram post, the former Indian captain shared a photo yesterday in which he shared the score of his yo-yo test he captioned the post “The happiness of finishing the yo-yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done.”

The BCCI straightaway came into action and reminded the players that players revealing such confidential information on public platforms can lead to a ‘breach of contract’ “Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in the report.

The Way Forward

On day two of the training camp, the focus will be on finetuning the skillset of players and on match stimulation. In exclusive visuals shown by Star Sports, openers Rohit and Shubman were seen batting together.

One of the features of the training camp is the number of net bowlers present in the camp which includes the likes of Umran Malik, Sai Kishore, Aniket Choudhary, and many others. The main idea behind having 10-12 net bowlers is to keep the main bowlers who are part of the team fresh for the Asia Cup.
