Barcelona set date for the official presentation of Vitor Roque
La Liga champions Barcelona have set the official date for the presentation of Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque.
The Catalan club will be able to register the 18-year-old striker in January, as they planned this already in the summer. His arrival was also pushed forward due to the club’s financial struggles.
Roque signed for Barcelona six months ago in a deal worth €30 million plus another €31 million in add-ons. Moreover, he will have a contract until 2031 with the Spanish giants.
Roque wouldn’t have arrived in January, as the club had very little salary margin to register him. However, after Gavi was out with an ACL injury, the club decided to register him instead of the Spaniard midfielder.
Xavi confirms Vitor Roque’s arrival
Barcelona manager Xavi has also confirmed that Vitor Roque will arrive in January after the Christmas holidays.
“If everything goes well, he will join us after the holidays. We are in contact with him so that he arrives in good condition,” said Xavi.
“He’s a hope for the team. He’s a very good signing and I think he can contribute a lot to us. We cannot put pressure on Vitor Roque or young people like Lamine. They have to go step by step. We have to take a step forward as a team.”
Barcelona’s lack of effectiveness have hurt them this season as the players are unable to finish their chances. Due to this problem they also struggled against bottom placed Almeria in their last game of 2023, but scrapped past them with a 3-2 win.
Date revealed for Vitor Roque’s official presentation
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club has already decided the schedule for Vitor Roque’s arrival at Barcelona.
As per the report, the 18-year-old centre-forward will be arriving in Catalonia on December 27 after Christmas.
He will then participate in his first training session with his new teammates on December 29, when Xavi and the squad return from their mid-season break holiday.
The plan is to officially present him as a Barcelona player on January 3. He will then make his debut against Las Palmas a day later. If everything goes according to plan Barca fans will see him against La Palmas.
