Ashwin replaces Injured Axar Patel in India’s Final World Cup 2023 Squad

India’s Final World Cup 2023 Squad: Axar Patel was replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin on Thursday in the final Team India roster for the ICC World Cup 2023. Axar Patel, who suffered an injury during the 2023 Asia Cup, will not participate in the World Cup. He previously missed the India-Australia series, which saw a remarkable performance by Ravichandran Ashwin.

In the recently finished ODI series against Australia, Ravichandran Ashwin played outstandingly.

The 37-year-old may provide India’s bowling lineup, which currently lacks an off-spinner, some much-needed diversity. Patel, on the other hand, is a far better batsman at position eight, as evidenced by his recent performances.

India’s final squad for the ICC World Cup 2023

Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav

Ashwin played in two of the three ODIs against Australia and put on a fantastic performance. However, Washington Sundar took his spot in the lineup for the third ODI, therefore he was given a rest. Even though India lost the game, Sundar’s performance in a game with lots of goals impressed many.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, stated during the post-game awards ceremony that he wants to give every play a chance before the World Cup.

“I’m pretty happy, of course, I would like to go all the way along but if I’m hitting like that I’m happy. The last 7-8 ODIs we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and different teams, I thought we responded to that challenge pretty well. Unfortunately, not the result we wanted today. [on Bumrah] I’m pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that’s looking good for us” the Indian captain said.

“When we talk about the 15 we are very clear what we want. We are not confused; we know where we are headed as a team. It’s a team sport and we want everyone to come and play their part – that’s how we win championships. It’s about looking after the body and try and stay fresh for the next one and half months,” Rohit Sharma said.
