Ansu Fati returs to Barcelona Squad ahead of El Classico Clash

Barcelona have confirmed that Ansu Fati is fit for Thursday’s trip to the Santiago Bernabeu for the El Clasico. Fati missed the weekend’s defeat to Almeria because of a bruised knee.

But was back in training on Wednesday and will travel to the Spanish capital, giving a boost to Xavi ahead of the trip, as he is already without Ousmane Dembele, Pedri, and Robert Lewandowski for the first leg of the semi-final.

The Spanish international was named on the bench for both legs of Barca’s Europa League knockout round playoff clash with Manchester United. And played just the final 15 minutes in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford. Fati and Barcelona then returned to base to prepare for their return to La Liga action, but the attacker was not involved against Almeria after sustaining an injury while training.

Good Chance For Fati To Win Back Xavi’s Trust

Fati had emerged as one of the brightest teenage talents that Europe had to offer a few years ago, but the 20-year-old’s development has since been hampered due to several serious injuries.

Fati has failed to make a consistent impact since Xavi took the charge and has started just eight La Liga games in the 2022-23 season, scoring three top-flight goals.

It’s not yet clear whether Fati will start at Bernabeu as Xavi could go with Raphinha and Ferran Torres as his attackers against Real Madrid.

Xavi’s side will aim to bounce back after defeats from Man Utd and Almeria when Ansu Fati will have a chance to shine and win Xavi’s trust back while his key attackers are out.
