Anchor Roles are Important: Virat Kohli hits out at Simon Doull over strike rate row

Virat Kohli has been the epitome of Indian cricket since ages. He has been the towering over Indian cricket since he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of cricket. In his reign as a captain, he has won many accolades and has been the face of Indian cricketing fraternity as he is hailed as the legend.

In IPL, he has been the representative of Royal Challengers Bangalore since the inaugural season in 2008. But, recently former Kiwi cricketer Simon Doull has launched a scathing attack on Kohli, mocking his strike rate in the games he has played this season.

Virat Kohli gave a fitting reply

In reply, Virat gave a fitting response to the commentator, stating that he might have not faced that situation, citing about the Kiwi cricketer’s mentality. The Indian cricketer was heard saying, “Yeah for sure (important anchor role). I completely agree with that, There are many people who because they have not been in that situation themselves, they look at the game differently.

“Suddenly when the powerplay is done, they will be like ‘oh, they have started rotating the strike’. When you haven’t lost a wicket in the powerplay, usually the best player comes on to bowl, you are trying to figure out what to do against him in the first two overs, so that you can get big ones in the last two overs of that guy and then rest of the innings becomes much easier.”

Now, people will be eager to see what he does in the next match, as RCB face Delhi today, both sides being well-matched and eager to make their mark in the tournament.
