Alejandro Garnacho- Argentine superstar

Alejandro Garnacho have been one of the biggest names among the ranks of Manchester United this season. Erik Ten Hag has shown a lot of trust on this youngster, and in return, Garnacho have delivered his promise, showcasing some out-of-the-world talent in scoring goals. His exuberance, which perfectly aligns with his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, has been the talk of the town, and last night, he gave his fans and supporters one more reason to be compared to his hero-by scoring a world-class overhead kick, which perhaps would be remembered by United fans till years.

Former United star Gary Neville has expressed his awe in terms of Garnacho’s goal as one of the best, when he said, “I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium where I’ve seen an overhead kick that good… and I was there for Wayne Rooney’s against Manchester City.” The 19-year old Argentine star, who is among the rare breed of players who have got the opportunity to play alongside two of football’s biggest names, Ronaldo and Messi, met Dalot’s cross from right side before stealing the thunder, when he went overhead to strike the ball past Jordan Pickford at Goodison Park.

Garnacho further said in post-match interview about how he scored, “I can’t believe it to be honest. I didn’t see how I scored, I just listened to the crowd and said ‘oh my God’.”

Whirlwind appreciations

After Garnacho scored the banger, he hit his favorite idol Ronaldo’s SIUU celebration, going in front of the United supporter stand. Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman summarized this jaw-dropping scenario on BBC Radio 5 Live, when he said, “It was a jaw-dropping moment. Everybody was just stunned by seeing a goal of that quality. It wasn’t just the finish which was remarkable but the whole move, back to front, cross-field pass, good touch, underlapping run, cross to the far post then that moment.”

Former United skipper Neville, who was on ground zero during Wayne Rooney, another United legend’s overhead kick swooned United supporters years ago, said about his view of Garnacho’s miracle. He said, “That is a magical, magical goal. We will see that a few times this season. That is one of the best you will ever see. I can’t believe it. I don’t think it can get any better in his career in terms of a goal. Absolutely spectacular, a world-class moment.”

“I’ve never seen an overhead kick goal as good as that. He has to step meters away from goal, shuffles his feet and lift himself into the air. I’ve never seen a goal like it.”

English football stalwart Gary Linekar said about the goal, while speaking about its rank among one of the best goals. He was head saying, “It’s got to be up there. It will take some beating.”

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag was asked about the might of the goal, as he said, “The finish was incredible, it was world class. We are early in the season but already it’s the goal of the season. It’s not the first time we saw this, we have already often seen glimpses, but if you want to be a player like Wayne Rooney or Cristiano Ronaldo you have to score 20 to 25 goals in the Premier League each season.”

He further said, “That’s not easy to get, you have to work hard, you have to go in areas where it hurts. So there’s a lot to come. But he has potential.”

Garnacho would look to better his scoring tally this season, but with the banger, it is already believed to be a contender for a Puskas trophy.
