The 19-year old left-back made his official first-team debut under former manager Ronald Koeman. But, last season Balde established himself by pushing Jordi Alba out of the starting XI.

The Spaniard was not done there after his staggering performances with the club, then Spain manager Luis Enrique decided to include Balde in the World Cup squad.

After benching Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso, Balde became Xavi’s undisputed starter. His pace and excellent skillset even facilitated Xavi to use four midfielders.

According to reports, the deal was already in place before the U.S. Pre-season tour. Before agreeing to a new contract, Man City also showed strong interest in him, but he decided to stay and extend his contract with the Catalan club.

This season Blade is registered as a first team player, and was also given the No. 3 shirt by the club.
