Adidas Unveils New Jersey for Team India Ahead of WTC 2023 Final

In an exciting development for cricket fans, Adidas, the renowned sports goods manufacturer, has officially unveiled the new jersey for the Indian cricket team, including star players such as Rohit Sharma and his teammates. This marks a significant transition as Adidas takes over from Nike as the official jersey sponsor. The debut of the highly anticipated jersey will take place during the World Test Championship Final 2023, where Team India will face Australia on June 7.

A Landmark 5-Year Deal with Adidas

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has secured a monumental five-year deal with Adidas, extending until 2028. This groundbreaking partnership is estimated to be valued at approximately 350 crores over the course of five years. The collaboration between BCCI and Adidas will see the renowned sportswear brand replacing Killer, which temporarily filled the kit sponsorship deal after MPL’s departure. The new jersey will be donned by the Indian Cricket Team across all formats, including men’s, women’s, and age-group cricket.

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are committed to helping grow the game of cricket and could not be more excited to partner with one of the world’s leading sportswear brands, Adidas, in this journey.” Shah acknowledges the rich sporting heritage, superior product quality, and global influence of Adidas, which will significantly contribute to the performance and future success of Indian cricket across various categories.

Distinct Jerseys for Different Formats

As part of the new partnership, Team India will showcase three distinct jerseys for their upcoming matches in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs), Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), and Test matches. While the traditional all-white attire will be worn for Test matches, fans will eagerly anticipate the colorful jerseys to be donned by Rohit Sharma and his teammates in the limited-overs formats. After the World Test Championship Final, India’s cricketing journey continues with a comprehensive tour of the West Indies, featuring Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, scheduled for the end of June.

Bjorn Gulden, CEO of Adidas, expressed his pride in partnering with BCCI and Team India, stating, “Cricket is the most important sport in India, and it is very important for us to be visible and invest in it.” Gulden firmly believes that India holds immense potential as the fastest-growing sports market in the coming decades. The collaboration with BCCI aligns with Adidas’ commitment to supporting Team India and becoming the leading sports brand in the country.
