Adidas to compete with Puma for Barcelona’s kit sponsorship

Adidas will compete with Puma to become FC Barcelona’s kit sponsor if the club decides to end their deal with Nike.

Nike has been Barcelona’s kit sponsor for the last 25 years. Their current deal expires in 2028, which was signed in 2018, but the relationship between the two parties has not been good.

The current Barcelona board think that the products they have been receiving from Nike are not good, and that has created tension between them. Moreover, they have also run out of stocks over the past three years, thus creating a void in their supplies.

In these past years, Nike has created some of the most iconic kits for the Catalan club that has been worn by several great players that played for the club.

Nevertheless, it looks like Barca’s 25-year-old relationship with Nike will now come to an end. The current deal sees the club earn around €105 million per year, with variables surmounting that amount to €160 million.

Adidas join race to become Barcelona’s new kit sponsor

With growing concern regarding Nike, Barcelona are now looking at other brands that can provide them with better facilities.

According to MD, Adidas and Castore have also joined the race to become the La Liga champions’ new kit sponsor. However, it would be difficult for Adidas to become their kit sponsor, as they are already Real Madrid’s main sponsor.

However, other brands like New Balance and Puma are also in contention and can become the club’s new sponsor.

Puma has grown their market in recent years and is the kit sponsor for some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Marseille and Valencia are some of the big clubs that Puma sponsors.

Nevertheless, Nike and Adidas remain the two biggest kit sponsors as of now because of the longevity they have had with some of the clubs.

So now, if Barcelona does intend to end their deal with Nike, Puma might become their new sponsor from the 2025/26 season.
