The incident took place after both teams took the field in Guyana for the third T20I which made the umpires delay the start of the match

The Third T20I between West Indies and India in Guyana was delayed for a few moments as the ground staff forgot to mark the 30-yard circle. The incident took place after both teams took the field for the match which made the umpires delay the start of the match. It is a kind of incident which is not seen during an international match the reason being the umpires get all these things checked a day before the match. Notably, this is not the first time something of this sort happened during the series off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also shed light on the poor facilities provided by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) during the test series The 36-year-old mentioned the poor quality of the nets available for practice.

History repeats itself

The condition was similar during India’s tour of the West Indies in 2016 when a test match was drawn due to rain as there was a lack of proper equipment to make the ground dry and the ground staff used a hair dryer to dry the wet patches present in the ground which was not received well by the audience as it ruined India’s chances of winning the series by a margin of 3-0 although India won the series 2-0. The team did manage to register a clean sweep against West Indies on the next tour.

The last chance

Talking about the ongoing five-match T20I series India is desperate to win the third T20I to keep the series alive after losing the first two matches by a close margin. Batting first after winning the toss West Indies posted a challenging total of 159 courtesy of some good batting by the batters including the openers King and Mayers who gave the team a good start which was followed by some sensible batting from Pooran and Powell in the death overs which took West Indies pass the 150-run mark which is a handy total at this wicket
