‘Abbu, Arjun kitna naseeb wala haina…’: Sarfaraz khan’s father shares heart-warming story of his son’s childhood innocence

Right-handed batsman from Mumbai, Sarfaraz Khan has been in the limelight these days. He has been in terrific form these days in the domestic cricket by scoring heaps of runs for his state side.

He has scored more than 900 runs in the last two seasons and has been in red hot form this season as well with three hundreds from the last six matches.

The 25-year, despite being consistent for the last couple of years, has failed to find his name in the 17-member Indian squad for the first two tests against Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Instead of Sarfaraz, the selectors have given preference to No.1 T2o batsman Suryakumar4 Yadav and wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan. The selectors have been heavily criticised for this.

Sarfaraz who was disappointed to have missed out, decided to stay calm and let his bat do the talking. He responded with a magnificent century against Delhi just two days after the India squad was announced.

Sarfaraz’s father recalls a sweet incident

Sarfaraz Khan has battled quite hard off field as well. He has fought poverty right from an early age and his father Naushad Khan has done a lot of hard work to provide all the facilities to his son. Sarfaraz values his father a lot who is also his coach. Often it has be seen the 25-year-old Mumbaikar sharing pictures with his father during training which shows their great bond.

Recently in an interview with the Indian express, Naushad shares a heart-warming story of Sarfaraz’s innocence  from his younger days.

Naushad stated that Sarfaraz used to play and interact with Arjun Tendulkar, who is the son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, during his junior games. One day, a young Sarfaraz Khan came to his father and said:

“Abbu, Arjun, kitna naseeb wala haina? He has everything in life, like cars, ipads, etc.”

The cricketer’s father was speechless at the time due to his helplessness, but when the young Sarfaraz returned, he gave his father a bear hug and added:

“I am more fortunate than him because my dad gets to spend the whole day with me. Arjun’s father can’t spend enough time with him.”

Naushad recalls this hear-warming incident from a young Sarfaraz Khan who was extremely humble right from his early days. This is something that seems to keep Sarfaraz grounded and gives him the composure to fight his mantle battles.

Sarfaraz would like to continue his purple patch with the bat and pile on the runs as he hopes to find his name for the last two tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
