Aakash Chopra tells Ishan Kishan ‘You’re Not MS Dhoni’ His reply makes netizens laugh

The incident took place in the second ODI when Kishan tried a Dhoni-like stumping against West Indies

Ishan Kishan has been quite vocal behind the stump on India’s tour of the West Indies. He has been fulfilling the void left by Rishabh Pant’s absence behind the wicket. His banter with Shubhman Gill and Virat Kohli was a treat to watch and listen to during the test matches. His comradery with Shubhman Gill is visible both on and off the field. With the two former under-19 players enjoying each other’s company in the Caribbean. This partnership has benefited India on the field as well with the duo giving good starts to India while opening the innings together in the ODI series. Ishan has been in good form with the bat as well throughout the tour since making his test debut in the first match of the tour. Ishan scored a quick-fire fifty in the second innings of the second test match when the left-hander was promoted up in the batting order. His fifty also included a one-handed six which reminded everyone of Rishabh Pant.

The Funny Side

He has continued being vocal behind the stumps in the limited-overs leg of the tour. This was evident during the second ODI when India was defending a low total and needed quick wickets. Ishan tried a Dhoni-like stumping to which Aakash Chopra who was commentating at that moment reacted by saying “It’s very rare that you review the stumping and run out dismissal. So far, I am seeing the feet on the ground. You can come from Ranchi, but your name is not MS Dhoni,” Coincidently Kishan replied to this by saying “Ha, fir thik hai. (Then it’s okay)” “How sweet Ishan. We love you,” Chopra replied. Aakash Chopra shared the video of this incident on Twitter.

Let The Bat do the Talking

Ishan was instrumental in India’s 2-1 ODI series win. The left-hander scored three fifties in as many matches. He deservingly won the Player of the Series award. After receiving the award Kishan said “Not so happy with the finishing that I gave. I was supposed to score big after being set. That’s what my seniors told me, I should’ve stayed in and scored big. That’s what I’ll try next time, I’ll get set in the middle and score big. It’s important at this level to get set. It’s important to forget the last game and start from 0. I was thinking of taking it one ball at a time.
