24-year-old Harry Brook becomes fastest batter to 1000 runs in Test cricket in recent Ashes stint
On Sunday, July 9, while batting in the second innings of the Leeds Test match, England batsman Harry Brook amassed 1000 Test runs. The young cricketer from England became the fastest batter in Test cricket to score 1,000 runs in terms of balls faced. In just 1058 balls, the aggressive batter who has built his reputation playing aggressive innings over the globe attained his milestone.
Brook, who is playing in his tenth Test match, needed 16 innings to attain the milestone, which ranks as the joint sixth-highest total in Test cricket history. Don Bradman reached 1,000 runs in Test cricket the quickest of any player in terms of games played. To get to his first 1000 runs, it only took him seven Test matches.

When Brook stepped out to bat in Leeds’ second innings, he was under extreme strain. While needing 251 runs, England’s top order collapsed. To continue in the series, England must win the Test match at Leeds. As the other hitters, including captain Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow, strolled back into the dugout, Brook notched a patient half-century to help England stay in the game.
On Day 4, Mitchell Starc started off hot, taking 4 wickets in the opening 40 overs of the game’s final session. While others died, Brook seemed very comfortable in the crease and began tossing the ball around right away in his innings.
