You’ve decided it, not me: MS Dhoni on Danny Morrison calling IPL 2023 his last season

MS Dhoni is back in IPL 2023 and so is his quirky replies to the question: whether it is his final season or not?

Another situation arose during the toss of the match between CSK and LSG. Winning the toss, MS Dhoni chose to ball first, and while talking about his thoughts on the game, Danny Morrison asked him how is he enjoying his final season.

MS Dhoni confirms IPL 2023 not his last

To this the former Indian captain gave a befitting reply that won million hears. Replying to the question MS Dhoni said, “You have decided it’s my last season, not me.”

This is not the first indication that has been hung out by CSK about Dhoni’s retirement. Earlier in the week, their coach Stephen Fleming was asked about their captain’s future. And the Kiwi coach told everyone that Dhoni has not implemented anything as such.

The question around Dhoni’s availability in the tournament has been raised every season since his retirement in 2019. Every fan thought that 2020 season will be his last, but he said “Definitely Not.”

In 2021, Chennai Super Kings won the 4th title and everyone knew that Dhoni would come back. 2022 might have been a season to forget, but Dhoni’s reply “I’m coming back next season,” gave everyone the hope to support their favorite team.

MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings

MS Dhoni is the core of the Chennai Super Kings, ever since the team came into being. He was the first capped player of the team in 2008 and since then has been their captain and man in the middle.

They tried experimenting with captaincy last season with Ravindra Jadeja being named as the new captain. However, that move backfired and hence Dhoni has returned as captain this season.

Two games ago he also became the first player to captain an IPL team in 200 games. This is one of those rare and prestigious records that Dhoni has set as a player and captain that will take other’s a long time to chase down and break.

With that being said, everyone is happy with Chennai Super Kings having MS Dhoni as their captain for another season. They have had a decent outing in this season and will be looking to equal the records of IPL title by winning this season.
