In this comprehensive guide, we will provide you with all the essential information about the auctions, including important dates, auction process, player retention rules, recent updates, and a look at the record-breaking player in PKL history.

Dates and Venue

The organizers, Mashal Sports, have announced that the PKL Season 10 auctions will be held on September 8 and 9 in the bustling city of Mumbai. This iconic event will witness intense bidding battles as teams strive to secure the best kabaddi talents.

PKL Auction Process

Let’s dive into the exciting auction process of PKL Season 10. Each team participating in the league has the option to retain up to six players from their PKL 9 squad. These retained players, known as ‘Elite Retained Players,’ form the nucleus of the team. The remaining players who are not retained will enter the auction pool, making them available to all the other 11 teams. The two-day auction process promises to be full of suspense and strategic decision-making.

The PKL teams have an interesting opportunity to retain their released players during the auctions. The Final Bid Match [FBM] card allows teams to match the final bid price offered by other teams and reclaim their previously released players. This unique feature adds a captivating twist to the auction dynamics, as teams can regain valuable assets.

Format of the PKL Player Auction

The player auction in PKL Season 10 follows a structured format. Players, both domestic and overseas, will be categorized into four distinct categories: Category A, B, C, and D. Within each category, players will be further classified as ‘All-Rounders,’ ‘Defenders,’ and ‘Raiders.’ The base prices for the different categories are as follows: Category A: ₹30 Lakh, Category B: ₹20 Lakh, Category C: ₹13 Lakh, and Category D: ₹9 Lakh.

Exciting changes have been introduced for PKL Season 10. The auction pool will now feature over 500 players, including the 24 players from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023. This expansion ensures a wider talent pool and increased competition among teams.

Additionally, each of the 12 franchises will have a total salary purse of ₹5 crore, surpassing the previous limit of ₹4.4 crore. This enhanced budget empowers teams to build stronger squads and make strategic moves during the auction.

Most Expensive Player in PKL History

Pawan Kumar Sehrawat holds the distinction of being the most expensive player in PKL history. During PKL 9, he was signed by the Tamil Thalaivas for a record-breaking fee of ₹2.26 crore. Unfortunately, Sehrawat’s season was cut short due to an injury sustained in the very first game. However, he made a remarkable comeback, leading the Indian team to victory in the Asian Kabaddi Championships.
