What surprised everyone was the fact that they had decided to let go of their captain, the Mighty Maninder Singh. The player has been a part of the team since PKL 7 and is consistently performing for them.
They could have kept him in the mix and, with his firepower in the raiding department, made a team around his experience. However, they have not seen that as an option and cleared out their squad.
Although they have managed to retain four players in the existing new player category, it will be a tough task for them to rebuild without any core in the team.

The only valid reason behind this choice could be the aging factor with Fazel. Although he became the most successful defender in the history of the league last season, there have been some concerns with his fitness. This was seen in the recent Kabaddi Asian Championship, in which the Iranian team was without Fazel.
However, there are very few people in the game who can strategize better than him. Hence, leaving him out is a huge gamble, and it will be interesting to see how Paltan plays their cards moving forward.
Coming to players retained by Puneri Paltan, there are a few big names in the mix. Starting with Aslam Inamdar, Akash Shinde, and Mohit Goyat. Further, they have Gaurav and Abhinesh in the Elite player list. While Badal and Aditya as young players.
