Bayer Leverkusen score late goal to make Bundesliga statement against Bayern Munich
Bayern Leverkusen scored a stoppage-time penalty to earn a 2-2 draw against Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich.
Apart from challenging for the title, Leverkusen also made sure to end the Bavarians’ 100% start to the Bundesliga season. New signing Harry Kane opened the scoring inside seven at the Allianz Arena to make it fours goals in as many league starts.
Even after conceding a goal Leverkusen were pressing very high, and soon the pressure paid off as they earned a free-kick at the edge of the box.
Alejandro Grimaldo equalized with a beautiful free-kick for the visitors. Moreover, they had plenty of chances to take the lead over Bayern, but their striker Victor Boniface missed several chances in the first half.
On the other hand, Leverkusen keeper Lukas Hradecky kept denying Bayern, as he made four saves in the first 45 minutes.

Leverkusen’s No. 10 Florian Wirtz hit the post after combining well with Boniface in the 79th minute. Nevertheless, it was Leon Goretzka who scored a tap-in after substitute Mathys Tel weaved past Leverkusen’s defence.
The Bavarians’ thought that they have scored the winner and have secured the three points. However, in stoppage time, Bayern’s Alphonso Davies brought down Jonas Hofmann in the penalty area.
Exequiel Palacios stepped up and scored a thunderous penalty past Sven Ulreich. Furthermore, this result now leaves Bayern and Leverkusen both on 10 points.
