Rohit Praises Gill
Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised Shubman’s effort. “It was brilliant. He backs his game, he knows how exactly he wants to play and pace the game. Very clear in his mind and knows what he wants to do for the team. Just look at his form for the year and the past. It was been just brilliant. Solid against the new ball, works extremely hard and there are no optional practices as well,” said Rohit.
The Miscalculation
Gill’s views on his innings were a bit different as the batter felt that he miscalculated the chase and was of the opinion that India might have won the match if he had batted normally. In the words of Shubman When I got out actually…. something you miscalculated and I think there was a miscalculation from my side. If I had batted a bit normally and not that aggressively I think we should have been able to get over the line. But these are the learning for us. Sometimes you misunderstood the situation and I did the same ….I have to learn from this. This wasn’t final for us and we have to learn from this.”
He also praised Shakib for playing a captain’s knock when his team was in trouble “Shakib played well from Bangladesh since this was the point he pulled the match away from us,” Gill said.
India will face Sri Lanka in the final match of the tournament on Sunday
