Virat Kohli gets ‘Nostalgic’ on his return to Dominica

As India gears up for the tour of the West Indies after a month-long break following the heartbreaking loss to Australia in the final of the World Test Championship there are a lot of things to look forward to starting with a two-match test series that gets underway from 12th July in Dominica.

An interesting fact about the Windsor Park is that no player from the current team other than Virat Kohli has the experience of playing a test match at this ground which coincidently hosted its first test between the same two opposition back in 2011 which was also the 1999th match in the history of test cricket.

The Rahul Dravid Connection

A notable thing is that Kohli is not the only individual from the team of 2011 present at this ground. Rahul Dravid the head coach of the team was also a part of the team that took on West Indies in the inaugural test match in 2011. India should have won but could only manage to come out with a draw and the dream of winning back-to-back test matches in the Caribbean was left unfulfilled. A feat that was later achieved by the Indian team in 2016 led by Virat Kohli.

Capturing The Moment

Virat Kohli posted a photo with Rahul Dravid on social media last night. One can sense the right-hander was in a good zone and a bit nostalgic having come a full circle as he made his test debut in Westindies under the guidance of senior players like Rahul Dravid and Dhoni and to come back to the same place with that very person can make you a little emotional.

West Indies’ Awful Record

Talking about the ground, it has been a challenging hunting ground for the West Indies as the men in Maroon have won just one test match at this ground since 2011 and the victory came against Zimbabwe.

Overall West Indies has played five test matches at this ground and has lost three. The last test match played at this ground was in 2017 when Westindies took on Pakistan.
