Virat Kohli becomes the First batter to reach 7000 IPL runs, Calls this historical moment “Just Another Milestone”
Kohli 7000 IPL runs: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was on fire for Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday (May 6) during Match No. 50 of the IPL 2023, which was played at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi. The local Delhi lad, who has represented RCB in the IPL since the start of the league way back in 2008, top-scored for his side by making 55 runs against local team Delhi Capitals.
Even though his team wasn’t able to win Saturday’s match, it was a memorable outing for Virat, and he created multiple batting records. The right-handed batter became the first cricketer in the history of the competition to score 7,000 or more runs, and in addition to that, he also became the first batter to score 1000 runs in the IPL against the Delhi Capitals.
He has scored a total of 7,043 runs in 233 IPL matches played till date, and out of those 7,043 runs, 1030 have come against Delhi Capitals, which was formerly known as Delhi Daredevils.

The top five run-scorers in IPL history are: Virat (7.043), Shikhar Dhawan (6,536 runs), Australian opener David Warner (6,189 runs), Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (6,063 runs) and Suresh Raina (5,528 runs).
In the ongoing IPL season, Virat has scored 419 runs at an average of 46.55 in 10 matches. His runs have come at a strike rate of 135.16. His best score this year is 82*. He has scored six half-centuries in IPL 2023.

It was a homecoming for Kohli who belongs from Delhi and played a lot of cricket at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The fans welcomed him with loud cheers when he came out to warm up before the clash. While the atmosphere was absolutely electrifying when he entered the middle to open the innings alongside skipper Faf du Plessis.
The batting maverick has been in incredible form this IPL and has already scored five half-centuries. He also led the franchise on three occasions and helped them register two victories under his leadership when Faf du Plessis was recovering from a rib injury.
“7000 runs is just another milestone during the journey of what I’m trying to do for my team. It’s a nice number when you try to do something for your team,” the 34-year-old said after RCB’s innings.
Kohli, who has a pavilion named after him at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, said that he’s grateful for everything and that he’d continue to work hard.
