The Ashes, 3rd Test: Despite Ben Stokes’ counter attack Pat Cummins claims 6/91
Pat Cummins, the Australian captain, bowled with absolute dominance to record his best bowling statistics in The Ashes. In the first innings of the third Test at Headingley, he recorded stats of 6/91.
Cummins smashed the England batting order for 237 runs as he went through it.
As the visitors scored 263 runs in the first innings, his stint allowed Australia to maintain a 26-run lead in the match. Ben Duckett was struck out in the first over of England’s inning by Cummins, who also scored an early wicket. In the sixth over, he quickly removed Harry Brook.
Returning on Day 2, Cummins struck with his first pitch, taking off the dangerous Joe Root and then Moeen Ali. He eliminated Stuart Broad and Mark Wood to clinch his six-fer.
