Rishabh Pant Shared Update After Starting Rehab Program At NCA in Bengaluru

Star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has started his rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Pant starts Rehab at NCA

He has been out of action since the start of this year due to multiple serious injuries that he suffered in a life-threatening road accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the early hours of December 30, 2022.

The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who last played for India against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series in December last year, took to Instagram Stories to share an update about his recovery program and posted a picture from NCA with a fitness trainer.

In a picture that was shared by Pant on Tuesday evening, he can be seen with protective gear near his knee. He captioned the post “Top man #nca” which also featured a fitness trainer.

Likely To Miss The 2023 World Cup

Pant suffered multiple injuries in the road accident, so he is out for an extended period. He is already out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League and is reportedly set to miss the upcoming edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup as well.

The 2023 edition of the men’s 50-over event will take place in India, and matches will be played across 12 venues during the months of October and November.

Pant’s absence will be a big blow to India’s chances, as he is one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen of present times and is capable of winning matches single-handedly. Pant featured in the 2019 edition of the 50-over World Cup as well after joining the side as a replacement player for the injured Shikhar Dhawan.

Rishab Pant’s Replacement

If Pant misses out on the ODI World Cup, KL Rahul will most likely play as the wicketkeeper-batsman for India.

In the three-match home series against Australia last month, despite the presence of Ishan Kishan in the squad, he was given the preference to keep the wickets, and he did a decent job as well.

Among other options, India may look up to Ishan and Sanju Samson. But for the duo to make a place in the Indian team, they have to produce a good show in the ongoing IPL first and then with the Indian team in all the chances they will get.
