PSG appoint Luis Enrique as their new manager until 2025
PSG appoint Luis Enrique as their new head coach for the 2023/24 season after sacking Christophe Galtier. The Spaniard will sign a two-year deal with the club.
Luis Enrique was sacked by Spain after their elimination in the World cup in 2022. The La Roja were performing good under him, but they got knocked out by Morocco in the last 16 of the World Cup.
As soon as he was sacked from the Spain’s National team several Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham wanted to sign him as their new coach. In the end, PSG have now appointed him as their new manager.

PSG reached a contract termination agreement with Christophe Galtier at the start of the week before making his dismissal official. Moreover, they already had Luis Enrique lined up to fill his boots.
Galtier paid the price for an underwhelming 2022/23 campaign that saw PSG limp to an unconvincing defence of their Ligue 1 crown. They were also out of the Champions League in the first knockout stage for the fourth time in the last six years.
Luis Enrique’s statement as new PSG manager, “I’m delighted to be joining Paris in order to enjoy a new experience. It’s so exciting to meet new people, to live in this city, to learn a new language and, above all, to manage PSG.”
What will ex-Barcelona manager bring to this PSG side?
PSG’s owners and directors will expect Enrique to transform this PSG side into one of the best teams in Europe as they will look to win their first ever Champions League.
Luis Enrique previously became a Champions League winner at Barcelona. He guided them to a historic treble in the following season in charge at the Camp Nou in 2014/15. He won nine trophies with the Blaugrana, but later stepped down in the summer of 2017.
PSG have heavyweights like Mbappe and Neymar, and at times it’s difficult to control big profile players. However, Enrique is a different manager. He has already coached the likes of Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Iniesta and Xavi in Barcelona.
Unlike other managers, Enrique is fearless and will take tough decisions if he has to. More importantly, it is not known yet if the likes of Mbappe and Neymar will stay at PSG this summer or not.
