New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says, ‘Chelsea are the greatest team in England’ for the last 10 to 15 years.

Chelsea have won 21 trophies since 2004, including five Premier Leagues and two Champions Leagues. However, after Tuchel’s sacking, the club was not playing at high level even after spending money.

They also sacked Graham Potter after poor results. Caretaker manager and former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was also in affective at the end of the season. Moreover, the Blues finished 12th in the Premier League last season. However, they have signed former Spurs and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.

“I know very well the Premier League and what the culture of Chelsea means. I think our fans are excited to again be on the road of trying to win.” said the new Chelsea manager.

“We are excited to work with a very young team, with a different approach than in the past. But I think we all need to understand that we have to work really hard and create a very good atmosphere at the training ground to build success for the team in the next few years.”

The praise for Chelsea might spark fire between Pochettino and Spurs fan. The Argentine had a good five-year spell at Tottenham, and also helped them to reach the Champions League final in 2019.

However, he never won a trophy with the North London side. Tottenham fans are also disappointed by his decision to join their rivals.

After sacking Tuchel and Potter last season, Todd Boehly spent a whooping £288 million in January transfer window. The fee was more than the combined total of all clubs in the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1. 

Chelsea’s clear-out for the new season

However, they needed to record the books in the summer transfer window. They have already sold the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy have joined Saudi Pro League. Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic are also sold to Arsenal and Man City respectively. Academy graduate Mason Mount will also join Manchester United soon.

The Blues have also singed Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig and Nicolas Jackson from Villareal. It will be seen how Pochettino manages this Chelsea squad and if he will be able to compete with the likes of Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League.
