LSG vs RCB: Umpire hits Ravi Bishnoi by mistake after he claims Kohli’s precious wicket
Lucknow Super Giants’ spinner Ravi Bishnoi proved to be the star of the match as he took two crucial wickets and guided his team to victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday.
Bishnoi dismisses Kohli
Ravi Bishnoi continued his impressive form in the IPL 2023 season by dismissing the former RCB skipper Virat Kohli with his spin bowling. Kohli walked outside his crease to hit Bishnoi, but he misread the line of the delivery, missing it completely. Nicholas Pooran completed an easy stumping to end Kohli’s sluggish knock of 31 in 30 balls.
After LSG completed their celebration following Kohli’s dismissal, a rather bizarre incident happened as it emerged that the umpire mistakenly hit Bishnoi on the face. The 22-year-old was in visible pain after the incident, but he was able to shake it off and resume his spell.
Bishnoi takes Maxwell’s wicket
Bishnoi wasn’t done yet as he went on to dismiss RCB’s danger man Glenn Maxwell. The Australian cricketer attempted a reverse sweep but missed the ball, and Bishnoi trapped him in front of the stumps. Maxwell made just four runs in five balls, leaving his team in major trouble.
RCB had a nightmare with the bat after winning the toss and batting first. After Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis’ 62-run stand was broken by Bishnoi, wickets fell in a heap as RCB managed to score just 126 runs on the board. Du Plessis was the top scorer with a 40-ball 44.
LSG skipper KL Rahul injured
LSG’s victory was marred by the injury of their skipper KL Rahul, who suffered an apparent hamstring injury in the second over of the game. Rahul, who is also the leading run-scorer for LSG this season, could be a major loss for the team if he is ruled out of the tournament.
Despite getting hit by the umpire and being in visible pain, Bishnoi’s two crucial wickets and economical bowling helped LSG to restrict RCB to a low score and secure a vital win in their IPL 2023 campaign. The young spinner has been in impressive form this season, proving why he is considered one of the best young players in India.
